The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ekiti State Command, has deployed 1,050 personnel to various locations across the state to ensure a peaceful and secure yuletide season.

The State Commandant, Dr Sosina Paul, while speaking at the headquarters along Ikere-Ekiti road, yesterday, assured Ekiti residents of a robust security presence throughout the festive period.

“We have deployed a multi-layered security strategy, with specialised units strategically positioned across the state,” he said.

The commandant stated that “The Counter-Terrorism Unit, Agro-Ranger Unit, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives Response units will work tirelessly to prevent and counter any threats to public safety.

“We have deployed over 700 personnel from specialised and tactical units to various locations across the state. Additionally, over 350 intelligence officers are strategically positioned at key locations and black spots to monitor and assess potential security threats.”

The NSCDC boss reiterated the state government’s ban on the use of fireworks and other outdoor explosives during the festive season, warning that anyone found violating the directive will face the full weight of the law.

The NSCDC PRO, SC Afolabi Tolulope, added that the commandant extended warm Christmas and New Year greetings to the people of Ekiti State, urging them to celebrate responsibly and politely.
