A Kano High Court has sentenced a young man, Abba Sulaiman, to death by hanging after he and others still at large were found guilty of stabbing one Tasi’u Ilyasu with a knife during a wedding ceremony.

The court also sentenced him to five years imprisonment for conspiracy in the murder of the deceased person.

The convict was arraigned before the court in 2019 after he was arrested for allegedly obstructing the conveyance of a bride to her matrimonial home at Sauna Kawaji in Nasasarwa LGA during which he committed the offence.

During the trial, both the prosecuting counsel, Barrister Usman and the defence counsel, Barrister Auwal Ringim, presented their witnesses.

Delivering judgement, the Judge, Justice Amina Adamu, said it has been established beyond reasonable doubt that the accused committed the offence and therefore passed the sentence.
