A commercial cyclist, simply identified as Saleh Ibrahim, has been stabbed to death by suspected hoodlums along the Paso-Paiko village in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.

A witness, who is a resident of Paso village, Samson Musa, said the incident happened on Saturday, around 10:37 pm at a sharp bend near the seminary in the area.

He said the deceased cyclist picked two young men who pretended to be passengers and claimed to be going to Paiko village in front of the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital’s gate.

He said the hoodlums, on approaching a sharp bend, few meters away from the seminary, brought out a knife, stabbed the cyclist on the neck and forcefully diverted him into the bush by the road side.

He said the hoodlums dragged the cyclist down and tied his mouth with a rag before they escaped with his motorcycle.

He said, “In the same night, some vigilantes on patrol, along the road, discovered his body by the road side and immediately alerted some security personnel and officials of Okada union, who came, identified him as the cyclist and took his corpse.”

The spokeswoman for the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, could not be reached for comment on the incident.
