The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has said the FCT Universal Basic Education Board is currently under probe.

The minister made this known when he received the management of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) led by the Executive Chairman, Dr Hamid Boboyi, on Thursday, adding that he was not satisfied with the management of the board’s affairs.

He said, “We are not quite satisfied with what we saw on the board. There is no full briefing on its activities so far, and we cannot allow that.

“We are renovating numerous schools and I wanted them to tell me the schools they have renovated so far.”

He said the development was partly responsible for the delay in the appointment of a substantive director for the board.

Earlier, the UBEC boss had pleaded with the minister to approve the commission’s application for land for offices and workers’ housing submitted in 2021.

Responding to the request, the minister said the board must sign an agreement with FCTA, demonstrating financial capacity to begin development of the land immediately and stating when the work would be completed.

He warned that failure to meet the agreed terms, the administration would revoke the land.
