Six people have been convicted of internet fraud by high courts in Kwara State, presided over by justices Sulaiman Akanbi and Adebayo Yusuf.
The convicts are Idris Muhammed, Ismail Temitope Mustapha, Oyekola Odunayo, Anthony Sylvester Stephen, Timilehin Adeniyi and Olayiwola Ayomide Abdulmalik.
They were prosecuted by the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Akanbi jailed Idris, Ismail, Oyekola and Anthony while the duo of Timilehin and Olayiwola were convicted by Justice Yusuf.
According to the courts during their separate trials, the convicts bagged their imprisonment when they were arrested for internet-related offences and prosecuted.
The defendants pleaded guilty to their respective charges when they were arraigned.
Andrew Akoja and Victoria Igodo prosecuted the cases on behalf of the EFCC.
The convicts were sentenced to various jail terms between six months and two years with various sums of fines.
They were further ordered to forfeit various sums of money and sophisticated phones including dollars and pounds to the federal government as restitution.
