Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) have arrested suspected vote-buyers in the ongoing Edo governorship election.

The suspects were arrested in the Egor Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects, two males and a female, were taken away by the EFCC officials.

But some residents kicked against the arrest, alleging victimization.

Daily Trust reports operatives of the EFCC and some police officers were spotted at the polling unit of a former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole.

During an interview on Friday, Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Frank Mba, had said that police were working with the operatives of the EFCC to arrest vote buyers.

Mba added that the police would crack down on printers of fake tags during the election, saying security agencies would ensure everybody is safe throughout the exercise.
