Bookings for the Volkswagen Tiguan R Line have opened today on the brand’s website and at its dealerships ahead of the CBU’s launch on April 14. Volkswagen India’s site now also has more details about the Tiguan R Line, from engine specifications to colour options.

Volkswagen Tiguan R Line side

The India-spec Volkswagen Tiguan R Line is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 204hp and 320Nm of peak torque. Outputs are sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and VW’s 4Motion AWD system. Volkswagen claims a 0-100kph time of 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 229kph.

Volkswagen offers the Tiguan R Line in India in six colour options, all of which are monotone finishes. The colours are called Persimmon Red Metallic, Nightshade Blue Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White Mother of Pearl Effect, Cipressino Green Metallic and Oyster Silver Metallic.

Volkswagen Tiguan R Line images on the brand’s website show that the interior gets sports seats and an ambient lighting package, along with a 10.3-inch digital instrument display and a 12.9-inch central touchscreen infotainment. Speaking of the infotainment, it uses the latest version of VW’s MIB4 OS that can receive over-the-air updates. A drive selector on the centre console is also seen in the images, along with steering-mounted controls, an ADAS suite including adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist, and a dual-zone climate control system, with controls in the infotainment touchscreen.

Expected to cost around Rs 50 lakh, ex-showroom

Considering the standard Volkswagen Tiguan’s price was last recorded at Rs 38.17 lakh, and that it was brought in as a CKD, the Tiguan R Line will command a significant premium, as it’ll be brought in as a CBU. Expect prices for the VW Tiguan R Line to be around Rs 50 lakh.
