Skoda Slavia high-octane petrol performance

I’m looking at buying the Skoda Slavia 1.5 DSG. Does it need only XP95 petrol or can regular petrol be used?

Autocar India says: The Slavia 1.5 TSI can run on regular petrol, but it won’t deliver the same level of performance and efficiency as it would with XP95, which has a higher octane rating. Given that the 1.5 TSI engine features a high compression ratio, using higher-octane XP95 fuel will help it extract the best performance, smoothen the throttle response and, potentially, better its fuel efficiency.

While regular petrol won’t harm the engine, you may notice a slight drop in power and efficiency. If XP95 is not easily available, you can safely mix it with regular petrol. Given the performance benefits, the cost of XP95 – around Rs 5 more per litre – is a worthwhile investment for an engine designed to perform best with it.
