Having entered India in 2000, Skoda has completed 25 years in our market. To mark the occasion, Skoda India will be launching 25 year Anniversary Editions of the both the Kushaq and Slavia.
Speaking to Autocar India on the sidelines of the Octavia RS drive, Petr Janeba, brand director Skoda India, said, “We are not only celebrating 25 years of Skoda in India but also 130 years of the Skoda brand. Combining these two occasions, we have some action planned on the Kushaq and Slavia, which will be a 25-year Anniversary Edition.”
While Janeba did not divulge any further details on the Anniversary Editions, it is likely to be a cosmetic and feature upgrade. The Kushaq and Slavia could see an Anniversary Edition badge, new colour options and unique trim and upholstery; a few additions to the equipment list can also be expected.
It remains to be seen whether Skoda offers the Anniversary Edition treatment on both 1.0 and 1.5-litre engine options.
CBU and CKD cars, including RS models
The Anniversary Edition models aside, Skoda has a slew of other CBU and CKD models lined up for launch this year. The Kodiaq, set to arrive in April, will be the first CKD this year. That will be followed by the Octavia RS, which will be brought in as a full import. Janeba has also said the company is mulling bringing back the Superb diesel and Octavia diesel to India. The Kodiaq RS is also on the cards as a CBU, but it may be localised if there is sufficient demand.
