Lexus has stopped accepting bookings for its LX 500d luxury off-roader in India, our dealer sources confirm. Launched in 2022 at Rs 2.82 crore, the LX 500d was Lexus' only diesel SUV in the country.
The LX is the sister SUV to the Toyota Land Cruiser (LC300), and at 5,100mm, is the longest among stablemates.
Our LX 500d review highlighted features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a sunroof, a 25-speaker audio system, front and rear seat ventilation and up to four interior colour options. The safety bundle comprised of 10 airbags, hill assist, ABS, vehicle stability control (VSC) and TPMS.
Under the hood, the LX 500d came with a 3.3-litre V6 diesel engine pumping out 308hp and a whopping 700Nm of torque. Transmission duties were handled by a 10-speed automatic, sending power to all four wheels. It rode on 22-inch alloy wheels, and despite weighing over 3 tonnes, 0-100kph came up in 8 seconds.
Interestingly, a recent Instagram post from Lexus India stated that the LX 500d will be “arriving soon”, indicating that bookings will resume shortly. Whether the upcoming car will feature new updates and a hybrid engine or continue with the same specifications is yet to be discerned. A slight price bump is also likely.
The upcoming LX 500d will continue to rival the Mercedes-Maybach GLS (Rs 3.39 crore), BMW XM (Rs 2.6 crore) and Range Rover (Rs 2.4 crore); prices are excluding options.
