Toyota X-Van concept at Auto Expo 2025

At the ongoing Auto Expo 2025, Toyota and Lexus have showcased a number of models, from their respective India portfolios to concepts that hint at their future direction. Of note are the X-Van, bZ4X and Urban EV concepts from Toyota, and the ROVConcept2 and LF-ZC concepts from Lexus. Let’s take a closer look at these concepts, and everything else on display at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 from the two Japanese carmakers.

Toyota X-Van Concept

Projected as a futuristic MPV that is said to reimagine spaciousness and utility for varied customer needs, the X-Van is a boxy, three-row utility vehicle that features no B-pillar giving it a large glass house, flexible seating configurations (1-3-2 or a 2-2-2 layouts), sliding suicide doors, a three-pane sunroof, and significant amounts of plastic cladding ion the lower parts to give it a more butch appearance.

Lexus LF-ZC concept

Lexus LF-ZC concept

The Lexus LF-ZC concept is meant to preview a premium electric sedan that’s due for an international launch next year. The LF-ZC is designed to be modular, and the batteries are said to be located in the middle of the car, giving more freedom to the front and rear structures. That should make it suitable for different sizes as well as powertrain layouts, including single-motor and dual-motor configurations. Lexus says the top-spec version of the LF-ZC will offer a range of over 1,000km when it goes into production. The concept also showcases Lexus’s latest design language – it’s very edgy, but Lexus says it is focused on aerodynamic optimisation. Inside, there is a steering yoke with steer-by-wire technology, while the main controls are spread across the cockpit area on a number of digital pads.

Lexus ROVConcept2

The other Lexus concept is whackier. The ROVConcept2 is a hydrogen-powered concept buggy and is essentially the luxury brand’s take on an all-terrain vehicle, incorporating some of the Lexus’ signature styling elements. The ROV has an open cockpit that’s heavily adorned in carbon fibre, and it also features a single-piece instrument cluster.

Toyota bZ4X concept

Toyota bZ4X

Showcased in 2021 for the first time, the bZ4X electric SUV concept is based on the e-TNGA electric vehicle architecture developed in collaboration with Subaru. It features heavily angled styling cues, chunky black wheel-arch trim, a familiar silhouette, and a contrasting roof that hints at the influence of the strong- selling RAV4 SUV. The nose shows a clear connection to the latest Camry that has gone on sale in India, featuring the brand’s ‘Hammerhead’ design language.

The production-spec bZ4X in international markets is powered by a 71.4kWh battery pack which promises a WLTP range of about 450km. There are two variants available – a single motor (204hp and 265Nm) version and a twin-motor AWD (218hp and 336Nm) one.

Toyota has also showcased some its tech demonstrators in the form of the Prius Flexi-Fuel PHEV, the Hilux FCEV and a cross-section of the Innova Hycross hybrid. Other highlights of the Toyota podium at Auto Expo 2025 include the Hilux Black Edition and Land Cruiser 300 GR Sports.
