BYD Sealion 7 Bookings open

The BYD Sealion 7 has made its India debut at the Auto Expo 2025 in New Delhi. The company has also commenced bookings for the all-electric coupe-SUV from today for a token amount of Rs 70,000. This will be BYD’s fourth model in India, joining the brand's existing lineup which currently consists of the SealAtto 3, and eMax 7. Prices are expected to be announced before deliveries commence in March.

Interestingly, BYD is providing additional benefits for customers who book the SUV by February 17. Keeping in with the 7 theme, the booking amount is Rs 70,000, and BYD will also give an equal contribution of Rs 70,000 towards the price of the car. The company is also offering 7-year/1.50 lakh km warranty and a free 7kW AC charger with free installation. Deliveries for the first 70 units of the Sealion 7 will begin from March 7, 2025. 

BYD Sealion 7 design and features 

The Sealion 7 gets the distinctive OceanX styling with X design motifs seen on the Seal sedan. In fact, this stylish coupe-SUV shares a lot of design cues with the Seal sedan – it has similar headlamps and connected tail-lamp setups with a more aggressive front and rear bumper design. The Sealion 7 stretches the tape at over 4.8 meters and it has a wheelbase of 2,930mm. BYD is offering the Sealion 7 in four colour options in India – Cosmos Black, Atlantis grey, Aurora White and Shark grey.

On the feature front, the 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen familiar from other BYD models occupies the centre of the dashboard. A majority of functions can be accessed and controlled via this touchscreen infotainment unit. Other features include floating instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory function, a panoramic glass roof with a sunshade, a 50W wireless phone charger, a heads-up-display, connected car tech, powered tailgate and even V2L, where you can power external devices via your car's battery pack. 

On the safety front, it comes with 11 airbags and an ADAS suite as well. It gets a frunk that can hold 58-litres. The boot space stands at 520-litres, expandable to 1789-litres with the rear seats folded down.

BYD Sealion 7 battery, performance and range

BYD is offering the Sealion 7 in India with a 82.5kWh LFP Blade battery pack. There are two variants on offer – Premium and Performance – and both are offered with the same battery pack. The Premium variant comes in rear-wheel drive configuration producing 313hp and 380Nm, while the Performance variant gets an all-wheel drive configuration with 530hp and 690Nm. BYD claims the electric motor on the Sealion 7 is the fastest electric motor in mass production, spinning up to 23,000rpm.

BYD claims the a 0-100kph sprint time of 6.7 seconds for the Premium variant and 4.5 seconds for the Performance variant. The Premium variant returns a MIDC-claimed range of 567km, while the Performance variant goes a claimed 542km on a single charger.

Expect BYD to position the Sealion 7 above the Seal sedan inn India, which means prices could be north of Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom). For its size and specs, it does not have any direct rivals in India, but it will see competiton from the likes of the similarly priced Kia EV6
