Hyundai India began the new year by officially revealing its Creta Electric. While nearly all details of the electric vehicle are out, ranging from battery specifications and features to exterior design, we will specifically focus on the lattermost.

  1. Creta EV borrows the Active Air Flap (AAF) technology from Ioniq 5
  2. The upcoming EV is based on the regular Creta
  3. It's Hyundai India's first mass-market compact e-SUV

Hyundai Creta Electric vs Creta ICE design

Before we begin, we should state that the Hyundai Creta EV is based on the standard Creta and isn’t a ground-up new electric car. That being said, the overall silhouette remains identical with only slight design tweaks setting them apart to the common public.

The electric Creta SUV gets a pixel theme, representing the visual identity of all Hyundai EVs. Look at the face closely and you will spot aerodynamic elements like a sealed-off grille and air dam on the green vehicle. Further, the air flaps open and close for cooling and airflow, a segment-first feature. Notably, the Creta EV borrows the Active Air Flap technology from the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Unlike the Creta ICE, the front camera is placed above the ‘H’ logo here, which also houses the charging port underneath. The silver faux skid plate has also become slimmer and gets sharper arches.

Not much differs along the side apart from EV-specific alloy wheels and blacked-out C-pillar element (silver in the standard Creta). However, the darkened applique may be exclusive to dual-tone variants. The skid plate looks refreshed as well, just like at the front. Subtle changes at the rear are integrated into the bumper, including a slimmer reflector pair, an angular skid plate and additional reversing light, as against a single unit in its ICE sibling. Also, the right side of the boot gate will house the ‘electric’ badge instead of the variant name.

Hyundai Creta Electric vs Creta ICE colours

A total of 10 colours to be on offer, consisting of eight monotone and two dual-tone shades. These will include three matter paints, as reported by us earlier. The Creta on sale has up to seven colours to choose from. With the EV, Hyundai has introduced a new ocean blue metallic with black roof. Others include Starry Night, Fiery Read and Atlas White with black roof.
