Gangavathi: The body of Dr. Ananya, a young doctor from Telangana who went missing after drowning in the Tungabhadra river near Sanapur, has been recovered.
After an extensive two-day search operation, a team comprising firefighters, Jindal company’s water rescue unit, local swimmers, and police located her body trapped between rocks on Thursday, February 20, at around 4:30 PM.
To aid the search, water levels in the river were reduced, and over 25 swimmers, along with drone cameras, were used in the search operation.
Dr. Ananya, a native of Hyderabad and a member of an influential political family in Telangana, had traveled to Hampi, Anegundi, and Sanapur with friends and was staying at a guest house in Sanapur.
She went missing after being swept away by strong currents while taking a bath in the river.
Following a request from Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah directed senior officials to intensify the search efforts. Koppal SP Dr. Ram L Arasiddi, AC Captain Mahesh Malagitti, DSP Siddalinganagouda Patil, and CPI Somashekhar Juttal supervised the operation at the site. Dr. Ananya’s family and close associates were present during the search and recovery.
