Mangaluru: Health authorities in Dakshina Kannada have heightened precautions after four cases of monkey fever were reported in neighboring Chikkamagaluru on a single day. A special meeting was convened by the health department to discuss preventive measures.
Medical officers from Mangaluru taluk attended the meeting in person, while district-level health officials participated online. Dakshina Kannada District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Thimmaiah provided guidelines on preventive measures, random testing procedures, and the necessary steps to be taken if cases are confirmed.
No immediate threat in Dakshina Kannada
Speaking to Udayavani, Dr. Thimmaiah reassured that there is no immediate threat of monkey fever in the district, as no cases have been detected so far. However, given the cases in the neighboring district, the health department remains vigilant and prepared to take necessary action if required.
