Bengaluru: A two-and-a-half-year-old child was tragically killed after being run over by a JCB vehicle in Diamond Layout, located in the Mahadevapura traffic police limits.

The deceased child has been identified as Thaman, son of Surendra, a private company employee and a resident of Diamond Layout. The JCB driver, identified as Kumar, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

According to the traffic police, the accident occurred around 6:30 PM on Tuesday. Thaman was playing on the road in front of his house when the JCB, driven by Kumar, was exiting a nearby construction site onto the main road. The vehicle’s front excavation bucket was raised, obstructing the driver’s view of the road ahead. Unaware of the child’s presence, the driver accidentally ran over Thaman, resulting in his death on the spot.

Mahadevapura traffic police have registered a case and taken Kumar into custody for further investigation.
