The airport road near Yeyyadi, Mary Hill, Konchadi, and nearby areas has become an accident-prone zone. A half-completed pipeline project on the road has worsened the situation, leading to frequent mishaps.

At a spot 100 meters ahead of the Mary Hill Junction, a section of the airport road was dug up for water pipeline installation. The area was partially filled with soil, but this has resulted in numerous accidents, with many riders falling and sustaining injuries.

Two-Wheelers Skidding on the Road

The roadwork, left incomplete for nearly two months, was temporarily filled and leveled during the Chief Minister’s visit. However, as the airport road is straight and vehicles travel at high speeds, the uneven surface has caused multiple two-wheelers to skid, injuring riders. Another accident occurred on Friday night. Locals recall a recent incident where the car of MLA Umanath Kotian also met with an accident on the same road.

Dust Adds to the Trouble

The loose soil on the road has generated significant dust, creating problems for nearby shop owners. Medical and general store items are getting covered in dust, causing inconvenience. The movement of heavy vehicles like buses and lorries further exacerbates the dust issue. Locals suggest that interlocking tiles could have been installed temporarily to mitigate these problems.

Inaction Despite Complaints

Pipes for the project were brought months ago, but the work remains incomplete. Locals have raised the issue with municipal representatives, who have visited the site for inspection. However, no action has been taken so far, allege residents.
