Vijayapura: BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal launched a scathing attack on Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, alleging political opportunism and divisive tactics.
Addressing presspersons, Yatnal accused Shivakumar of exploiting Hindu traditions for personal gains while failing to act during critical moments affecting the Hindu community.
“During Ganesh Chaturthi unrest, DK Shivakumar did nothing. Now, when he needs the Chief Minister’s chair, he seeks blessings from God and portrays himself as a protector of Sanatana Dharma. His double standards are clear, and he will never become the Chief Minister,” Yatnal remarked.
He also claimed that Shivakumar performed a “Pratyangira Homa,” a powerful ritual, allegedly to destroy his political rivals, including Siddaramaiah, Satish Jarkiholi, and Rajanna.
“He is visiting temples, but once he gets the chair, he will again declare that Muslims are our brothers and protect them at all costs. However, a strong opposition team is preparing to challenge him and will eventually send him home,” Yatnal said.
Allegations against Lakshmi Hebbalkar
Yatnal accused Congress leader Lakshmi Hebbalkar of contributing to government instability and engaging in disruptive activities. Referring to a clash during a CT Ravi case discussion, Yatnal said, “Muslims created unrest in Suvarna Soudha, and Hebbalkar instigated goonda activities. DK Shivakumar is backing her in these actions, which will eventually harm the government.”
He further criticized Hebbalkar’s statements about the Panchamasali community. “She called herself a daughter of the community and boasted about her ministerial role. However, the community has not forgotten her role in the police lathi charge incident, allegedly orchestrated by Shivakumar. I predict that Lakshmi Hebbalkar will be a key reason for this government’s downfall,” Yatnal asserted.
The remarks have sparked political tension, with Congress leaders dismissing Yatnal’s statements as baseless and inflammatory.
