A large eagle fitted with an electronic chip was discovered in the city on Sunday, sparking suspicions due to its proximity to the sensitive Kaiga Nuclear Power Plant and Kadamba Naval Base. Initial fears arose that the bird might have been deployed by a foreign nation to gather critical information.

However, local forest officials later clarified that the eagle is part of a research project conducted by a team studying eagles in Maharashtra’s Tadoba National Park.

The bird is being tracked using a flight tracking device to study its migratory patterns, flight range, breeding behavior, and seasonal movements. The tracking is intended solely for research purposes, providing insights into the habits of these large birds.
