Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has already exceeded its minimum target of citizen feedback submissions for the 9th edition of Swachh Survekshan 2024, with over 1.7 lakh responses submitted in just one month.

The feedback collection, which began on February 19, will continue until the end of the month, with the goal of collecting a significant number of online responses.

Mayor Malti Rai said that the BMC had surpassed 5.4 lakh citizens’ feedback during the 8th edition of Swachh Survekshan last year.

This year, the civic body is aiming for a target of approximately 10 lakh online responses, indicating a strong push for greater public participation. In addition to feedback collection, the BMC is also ramping up efforts to enhance the city’s cleanliness.

BMC’s additional commissioner Devendra Singh Chauhan reported that more than 60 sewage lines (nallahs) had been cleaned and maintained, while approximately 40 back lanes were redeveloped into spaces for public activities. Chauhan told the Free Press that the BMC was committed to achieving top results in the upcoming survey.

As part of these efforts, zones 6 and 8 had undergone significant beautification with redevelopment of back lanes.

Chauhan also personally inspected the ongoing redevelopment projects in Mahabali Nagar, Zone 18, on Thursday morning. “We have already achieved 10% of our citizens' feedback target and the number will continue to rise as the survey progresses,” Chauhan assured, emphasizing the BMC’s dedication to maintaining and improving the city’s cleanliness standards.
