The Central Railway has denied the railway police's claim that a 19-year-old youth was trapped between the platform and a local train at Tilak Nagar railway station on Sunday. The railway released CCTV footage, stating that the boy fell in front of the local train, causing serious injuries that led to his death and was not trapped between the platform and the train. The deceased has been identified as Jitendra Puria from Rajasthan.
According to the railway police, on March 15 at 4:54 pm, Puria, along with a male relative and a male friend, was standing on platform number 2 at Tilak Nagar railway station, waiting for a local train to travel to Panvel. Puria stood near the edge of the platform and suddenly fell onto the track just as the train arrived, allegedly getting trapped between the platform and the train, which caused severe injuries and ultimately led to his death.

However, Central Railway claimed that Puria was standing on the platform when he suddenly fell onto the track, landing in front of the oncoming train, and was not trapped between the platform and the train. A railway officer stated, "The CCTV footage clearly shows that the youth fell in front of the local train. At the same time, the train arrived, and he came under it — he was not trapped between the platform and the train."
After the incident, railway police and Puria's relatives rushed him to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar East, where he was examined and pronounced dead at 6:10 pm. The police suspect that Puria may have felt dizzy and fallen. He had recently arrived in Mumbai to stay with his relatives in Chembur. The police examined the CCTV footage and ruled out any foul play.
At the time of the incident, Puria was accompanied by his relative, Rameshchandra Kulhadia, 32, and a friend. He had come to Mumbai as tourist from Rajasthan.
