Thane: The Narpoli police arrested two individuals for allegedly attacking a 36-year-old co-worker to death with an iron rod and bamboo over suspicions of stealing Rs 1200 in Bhiwandi.
The accused have been identified as Raju alias Baitullah Khan and Ajay, and the deceased has been identified as Anil Brijlal, 36, who originally hails from Uttar Pradesh. They were all employed at a Bhiwandi-based event decorator (Mandap Decorator). The incident took place at a godown of a mandap decorator in the Pimplas area of Bhiwandi on March 14.
According to the police, the accused and the deceased had worked for a Mandap decorator for the last few days. On the day of the incident, the accused and the deceased were working in the godown. Later, Khan and Ajay moved to another side of the godown and engaged in their work.
Later, Khan checked his bag and found that ₹1200 was missing, which made him suspicious that the deceased had stolen the ₹1200. Following this, a heated argument ensued between them. In a fit of rage, Khan took an iron rod and bamboo allegedly beat him brutally with it. However Ajay also beat him up.Brijlal succumbed to his head injuries.
They found that Brijlal was unconscious and alerted the owner and later took him to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he was declared dead during the treatment on March 15. Subsequently, an FIR has been filed against them under the provisions of murder at the Narpoli Police station.
Pramod Kumbhar, Police Inspector from Narpoli Police Station, said, "We arrested both of them, produced them in court, and remanded them into police custody for further investigation."
