Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar made a major announcement in the state assembly regarding the Shiv Bhojan Thali and Anandacha Shidha schemes on Monday. In a written response, he clarified that the state government has not taken any decision to discontinue these welfare programs.

Pawar assured that while payments to some vendors under these schemes are pending, the government is taking necessary steps to resolve the issue at the earliest.

Launched to support the state's poor and needy citizens, these schemes have provided thousands of people with affordable meals and essential food grains. Under the Shiv Bhojan Thali initiative, nutritious meals are served at subsidised rates of Rs 10, while the Anandacha Shidha scheme ensures beneficiaries receive food grains at lower prices.

What Caused Disruption In Schemes?

In recent months, delays in vendor payments have led to confusion and disruptions in some areas. Addressing these concerns, Pawar reaffirmed that the government is actively working to disburse the outstanding amounts soon to ensure the smooth continuation of these schemes.

More details are awaited.
