Kolkata: The city woke up at 5:44 AM on Monday, March 17, 2025, and the Sun is likely to set at 6:47 PM. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted moderate to heavy rainfall in the city and the surrounding areas on Monday. The skies are expected to be cloudy, and the rainfall is expected to be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
Meanwhile, the weather department has also issued a heatwave warning in several districts, including Bankura, Purulia, Jhargram, Birbhum, Paschim Medinipu, and Paschim Bardhaman. In these regions, temperatures could soar five degrees Celius to more than normal.

Today's minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to be around 26 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees Celsius, respectively. The humidity is expected to be around 68 per cent, and the wind is expected to blow steadily from the Southeast at 10 km/h.
The weather department said that rainfall in the city will bring much-needed respite from the heatwave-like conditions. On Sunday, Kolkata experienced a peak temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures were about 27 degrees Celsius, resulting in an uncomfortable day for the locals.
