The 20-year-old law student and his friends with which he arrived at the house went upstairs. In another visual, Chaurasia and Chauhan could be seen leaving the house reportedly after 45 minutes. The car which Chaurasia was driving at the time of the accident could also be seen in the visuals. It was parked outside the house.
In one of the footage, Chauhan is seen sitting in the driver's seat. However, Chaurasia asked his friend to shift to the passenger's seat next to the driver. Chauhan then shifted to the passenger seat.
The accident occurred around 12.30 am on March 14 near Muktanand crossroads in the Karelibaug area following which Chaurasia was arrested. A video of the incidents also went viral on social media. Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle took a sharp turn, which caused it to hit the two-wheeler. The CCTV footage shows that the car was at high speed.
In the video, Chaurasia was apparently drunk as he was seen behaving erratically, shouting "another round, another round”, then a girl’s name, “Nikita, Nikita, Nikita Meri”, before suddenly chanting “Om Namah Shivay”.
The 20-year-old law student blamed a pothole for the accident. While speaking to the media, Chaurasia denied reports claiming that he was drunk. He also claimed that he was driving at a speed of 50 km/hr and his view was blocked due to an emergency airbag.
The police are reportedly investigating more than seven key aspects of the case, including Rakshit's connections and the possibility of a pre-planned involvement.
