Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The city is all set to celebrate the splash of colours, Rangpanchami, on March 19 with a grand traditional Ger procession. The vibrant event will begin from Tori Corner Square, proceed towards Rajwada and then return to its designated endpoint. The district and police administration have completed all necessary preparations to ensure a smooth and secure event.

However, this year, the famous Rasiya Corner Ger from Old Rajmohalla will not take place. Committee member Pt Rajpal Joshi announced that although it was set to mark its 52nd year, the procession had been postponed due to the recent demise of its chief patron Pt Kranti Sagar Joshi. He assured that the Ger would return next year in an even more grand and elaborate manner.

Meanwhile, the Sangam Corner Procession Committee has started giving final touches to the Ger preparations. This year, the event will showcase a glimpse of Barsana’s famous Lathmar Holi, where participants will engage in a playful reenactment of the traditional festival. Additionally, colour missiles will be launched, creating a spectacular visual of vibrant colour showers in the sky. From college students to public representatives, a wide range of people have been invited to participate in it.

The Moral Club is also preparing for a unique Ger experience. Organizer Abhimanyu Mishra said that special traditional elements were being incorporated into the event, ensuring a memorable experience for both participants and spectators. Excitement among Indore residents is at its peak as they eagerly await the traditional Ger procession.

Local holiday

To mark the occasion, district collector Asheesh Singh has declared a local holiday on March 19. Additional local holidays have also been announced for this year, including October 3, the day after Dussehra and August 22 for Ahilya Utsav, which will be a half-day holiday. However, these holidays will not be applicable to banks and treasuries.

Security

Given the scale of the celebration, the police administration has implemented strict security measures to ensure safety during the processions. A heavy police force will be deployed to prevent any unruly behaviour or disturbances. Additionally, security teams will monitor the Ger route from rooftops and strategic points.
