Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A man, who went to lodge a complaint against his daughter’s in-laws regarding domestic violence on Sunday afternoon, complained of chest pain at Banganga police station. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital but could not make it on time. Doctors declared him dead prompting his family members to allege that the police made him sit at the police station for a long time and released the accused after taking bribes.

Banganga police station in-charge Siyaram Gurjar said that the deceased was identified as Dharmendra Namdev. He had come with his wife and daughter to lodge an FIR against his son-law and his parents regarding domestic violence. Later, his son-in-law and his family also reached the police station to lodge a cross FIR of assault.

During the legal proceeding of filing an FIR, Dharmendra suffered chest pain and was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead. Preliminary investigation revealed that he might have died of a heart attack as he had a medical history of heart-related issues, said  Gurjar. Later, his family members staged a protest outside MLA Golu Shukla’s residence with the body and raised suspicions about the death.

The police officials pacified them and assured to conduct a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact reason behind the death. The police registered a cross FIR on the complaint of both the parties, TI Gurjar added. The family members alleged that the police had made Dharmendra sit at the police station for a long time and released the accused against whom he had gone to file a complaint after taking a bribe.
