Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi, president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, the cleric, who called out Mohammed Shami for not keeping a fast during Ramadan amid Champions Trophy 2025, has now taken aim at the Team India cricketer's daughter for playing Holi. Razvi has underlined that Holi is a hindu festival and that Muslims participating in it is a crime.
Razvi had earlier called out the veteran cricketer for not following Ramadan when he had spotted him drinking juice amid intense heat in Dubai during Champions Trophy semi-final against Australia. However, Shami gained plenty of support from fans amid that, given he took three crucial wickets to fashion India's win.

In a video message released on Saturday, Razvi said if Holi is not included in Shariat, Muslims should not cease to do it.
"She is a small child. If she plays Holi without understanding, it is not a crime. If she is sensible and still plays Holi, it will be considered again. I have appealed to Shami and his family members. Whatever is not in Shariat, do not let your children do it. Holi is a big festival for Hindus, but Muslims should not celebrate Holi. If someone celebrates Holi despite knowing the Shariat, then it is a sin."
