The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), in collaboration with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), is implementing the Mula-Mutha River Rejuvenation Project. This initiative covers the stretch from Wakad Bypass to Navi Sangvi, focusing on river restoration within the municipal limits.
However, reports of trees collapsing along the riverbanks due to floods, storms, or incidents on private properties have surfaced in the media.
In response, PCMC's Environment Department has clarified that these incidents are unrelated to the River Rejuvenation Project. The Garden Department is investigating the circumstances, it added.
"Regarding tree removal, transplantation or replantation within the project, the matter has been placed before the Tree Conservation Committee for approval. As of now, the committee has not granted any permissions," it further said.
"Consequently, no actions related to tree cutting, transplantation, or replantation have been undertaken under the project without verification. Further steps will be taken only after the committee grants approval," according to the Environment Department.
