A gang of notorious criminals was booked and paraded by the Pune Police for spreading fear and engaging in violent activities in Katraj and Ambegaon on Friday evening.

The accused have been identified as Ganesh Jadhav, Vishal Raut, Sameer Marne and Rishikesh Loke - all aged between 20 to 25 years. They were involved in multiple incidents of vandalising vehicles, rioting and physical altercation in the Ambegaon Police Station's jurisdiction.

According to the police, on March 12, at around 11.30pm, a 19-year-old boy was attacked near Swaminarayan Temple in Ambegaon by these goons. The accused assaulted him with sharp weapons following a dispute over a motorcycle overtaking incident. A case was immediately registered against them, and all accused were arrested.  

These habitual offenders had been terrorising areas like Katraj, Santosh Nagar, Sachai Mata Chowk, Bhagwa Chowk, Hanuman Nagar, Shani Nagar and Jambhulwadi Road, among others.  They frequently vandalised vehicles, created public disturbances and harassed locals and small business owners.

Sharad Zine, Senior Police Inspector (Ambegaon Police station), speaking to The Free Press Journal said, "The goons are trying to spread terror in the area. However, we have arrested them and paraded them through the very areas they had terrorised. Anyone attempting to disturb peace in Ambegaon will face strict legal action."
