Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Bhopal police have arrested a man for stealing a four wheeler worth Rs 21 lakh to celebrate friend's birthday on Thursday.

The man named Tulsiram was arrested for stealing a Thar Roxx jeep worth Rs 21 lakh.

According to information, the jeep belonged to SBI bank manager Sachin Gokhale, who had passed away recently.

Tulsiram planned to sell the vehicle but was caught before he could complete the deal.

TT Nagar police launched an investigation with two teams. One team checked footage from over 35-40 CCTV cameras to track the jeep’s movement, while the other team questioned witnesses.

During the probe, police found that Tulsiram was seen driving the jeep from Platinum Plaza, where the late owner had parked it.

Police traced Tulsiram’s location, surrounded him, and recovered the stolen vehicle. During questioning, he admitted to the crime and explained how he stole the jeep.

Tulsiram, who worked at a momos shop, found out about Gokhale’s death and saw an opportunity. He knew the vehicle’s keys were inside Gokhale’s flat at SBI’s guest house, where his brother worked. With his brother’s help, he accessed the flat keys, stole the jeep, and drove away.

When a parking guard stopped him, he lied, saying he was taking the jeep to Gokhale’s family in Indore. However, the family later realized the vehicle was missing and filed a police complaint.

Tulsiram then used the Thar to celebrate his friend Shubham’s birthday. That night, he hit a motorcyclist, damaging the jeep’s bumper. He later took the vehicle for repairs and tried to sell it. But before he could finalize the deal, police tracked him down and arrested him.

Police are now investigating if he had any accomplices.
