Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A tragic incident of suicide was reported from Bhopal’s Rama Nagar, where an 18-year-old BTech student hanged himself to death, as reportred by police on Thursday.

As per reports, the student took this extreme step after his cousin refused to return ₹80k, which the student lent him without asking his father.

According to information, the deceased has been identified as Satyam Dwivedi, a B.Tech student. He was a first-year student at a private college. The police found a suicide note in his room and seized it.

The suicide note

The suicide note addressed a person named Adarsh Dwivedi and read, “Return my family’s money. You promised to return it by Wednesday, but you didn’t. I helped you. Even your uncle assured me that the money would be returned soon. Why are you not returning it now?

According to Satyam’s elder brother Shivam Dwivedi, Adarsh Dwivedi, a distant relative and a friend from their village. He had borrowed ₹80k from Satyam around six months ago, claiming he was in bad need. 

Without informing his father, Satyam gave him the money. However, Adarsh later refused to return it, leading to tensions at home.

Accused threatened the victim

According to Shivam, whenever Satyam asked for the money back, Adarsh would threaten him over the phone. The family even complained to Adarsh’s uncle, who promised to return the money soon, but nothing happened. This constant stress deeply affected Satyam.

Satyam lived in a rented room with a friend in Bhopal and spoke to his mother daily. On Wednesday night, he asked his mother if Adarsh’s family had returned the money. When she said no, he ended the call and took his own life shortly after. The family was informed by the Bhopal police.

Investigation on 

TT Nagar police, a case has been registered against the accused, and Satyam’s suicide note has been sent for handwriting verification. The family’s detailed statements will also be recorded. Satyam’s body was handed over to his family after the post-mortem on Thursday.
