The rankings assess universities across five wide subject areas: Arts & Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences & Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences & Management.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has become a world leader in the Engineering and Technology subject category, with a total of 11 No. 1 rankings in individual subjects, including:
