Mumbai: In a daring robbery similar to the recent break-in at Saif Ali Khan’s residence, a thief scaled a building in Bandra West and broke into a premium jewelry brand’s office, escaping with diamonds worth ₹2 crore. The Bandra police have registered a case against an unidentified suspect and launched an investigation.

According to the police, the thief accessed the sixth floor by climbing the staircase, using a window, and scaling a pipe to enter the office. Once inside, he disabled the CCTV cameras before looting the valuables.

The incident occurred on Sunday, March 9. The thief seemingly planned the heist carefully, choosing a holiday to avoid suspicion. On March 8 at 8:15 PM, an employee, Anil, locked the showroom. When another staff member, Kunal, opened the store on March 10 at 10:15 AM, he discovered that five jewelry boxes were missing from the locker. Upon checking, the store owner, Samarth Bajaj, confirmed that 2,786 grams of diamond jewelry had been stolen.

During the investigation, police found that the thief entered through a window, disabled the CCTV system, and directly targeted the locker. After stealing five boxes of diamonds, he securely locked the safe before fleeing the scene.

This incident bears a resemblance to an earlier case at actor Saif Ali Khan’s home, where a thief, Shariful Islam Shehzad, attempted a similar break-in. However, upon encountering awake staff members, he failed to steal anything and instead attacked Saif before escaping.

The Bandra police are now actively working to trace the suspect in the jewelry heist and recover the stolen diamonds.
