Western Railway celebrated International Women’s Day 2025 with great fervor and zeal with activities held for its women employees from 6th March, 2025. The celebrations came to a conclusion with a grand cultural event held at Godbole Hall, Western Railway HQs Building, Churchgate on 10th March, 2025. Ashok Kumar Misra, General Manager of Western Railway was the Chief Guest and Kshama Misra – President of Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organization (WRWWO) was Guest of Honour. The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is “Accelerate Action”.

According to a press release issued by Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Vineet Abhishek, the keynote address for the closing event was delivered by Manjula Saxena, Principal Chief Personnel Officer of Western Railway who highlighted the importance of women empowerment and the significant contributions made by women employees in Western Railway. Thereon, Ashok Kumar Misra, General Manager released a book titled ‘Swayamsiddha’ which provides necessary and important information for women employees as well as tips and guidelines on lifestyle and health. GM WR Misra gave an inspiring speech to all the women employees present. He enumerated how women have reached the highest positions in various fields and are not leaving any stone unturned. He also highlighted that women empowerment must start at home first. He emphasized that change of attitude and behaviour towards women and girl child should begin at home so that all women are empowered together and success does not limit to only few who strive.

At the closing event, an exclusive collaboration video titled, “पश्चिम रेलवे की नायिका” was also released. The video is made by Western Railway in collaboration with Radio Channel – Fever 104 FM which is dedicated to the exceptional service of women employees of WR. The video captures inspiring shots of women employees who work relentlessly to ensure a safe and comfortable travel experience for railway commuters. A Puppet Show (ventriloquism) by Suchi Mahadik was also organized as part of the Women's Day celebrations on Western Railway, entertaining the audience with its colorful and engaging performance. A session on Chair Yoga by Dr. Jancy Shekar was also organized. This was followed by a cultural programme and was attended by Principal Head of Departments, WRWWO committee members, representatives from various associations and unions, women officers and staff of Western Railway. The Women’s Day celebration was truly a memorable event with all activities like fun and frolic, health care, etc. having been covered.
