Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Congress has been mum over the much-discussed transport department scam in the House for the past two days. Even during the Governor’s address on Tuesday, the Congress legislators kept away from uttering a single word. Nor did any opposition legislator try to point out any fault with the Governor’s address. None of the Congress members raised the transport department scam in the House.

Even during the Zero Hour, the Congress legislators remained silent. Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar was attacking the government over the scam, but he has yet to demand a discussion on the issue in House. He even avoided demanding a proposal for adjournment motion in the House over the issue.

Before the beginning of the assembly session, the Congress announced that the party would corner the government on the rip-off in the transport department. After the arrest of a former constable of the transport department Saurabh Sharma and detection of 52kg gold and Rs 11 crore in a four-wheeler, the Congress looked very aggressive against the ruling dispensation.

Out of nine scheduled sittings of the House, two are already over, and the budget will be put up on Wednesday, but the Congress is looking very weak over the issue. In the past few days, the Congress tore into the government over the transport department scam and some other issues, but the party leadership has failed to remain as vociferous in the House as they were outside.
