The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has intensified its seizure drive against property tax defaulters, leading to the confiscation of 25 properties in the past four days. The move aims to recover outstanding dues and according to the administration has already resulted in a significant surge in property tax payments.

"With the Property Tax Collection and Assessment Department deploying seizure squads, defaulters have started clearing their dues at an increased pace. The aggressive action has led to the collection of Rs 6.5 crore in just four days, with major contributions from businesses such as Bharati Vidyapeeth, United Beverages, Grovel, Western Super Fresh, Glass Tech, Sahara, and Amul," said an official from the tax department.

To speed up the recovery process, PMC has expanded its seizure and recovery teams. " There will be many more seizures to happen in the coming days as the team that looks into the process has been strengthened further," said the official. The confiscation of 25 properties has put defaulters on high alert, prompting many to settle their pending taxes.

PMC has also introduced digital payment options for easier tax clearance. Property owners can pay their dues via the ‘PMC TAX APP’ or the official website www.panvelmc.org. For any queries, citizens can contact the toll-free helpline at 1800-5320-340, as per PMC’s official statement.
