Mumbai: Almost two years after a mobile tower belonging to GTL Infrastructure Ltd was stolen from the terrace of a Kandivali West housing society, the police registered a case on March 8 against an unidentified person for alleged theft.

About The Case

According to the FIR, GTL Infra is an independent Indian telecom tower company headquartered in Mahape, Navi Mumbai. The company provides mobile towers to telecom operators across India. In October 2009, GTL Infra installed a mobile tower on the terrace of Bhumi-2 Co-operative Housing Society in Mahaveer Nagar, near Joggers Park.

However, in March 2023, the company discovered that the tower and equipment worth Rs 17.47 lakh had disappeared. Upon inquiry, the company learned that someone had stolen it. On behalf of the company, Babu Pokale, 40, a technician and resident of Kandivali East, filed a theft complaint.

A case has been registered under Section 378 (theft) and several other relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and a relevant section of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885.
