Firefighters worked quickly to control the flames. It is believed that the fire started due to a temporary shed, but the exact reason is still not confirmed.
The good news is that no cows have been harmed in this incident so far. The management of this gaushala was handed over to saints a few years ago, and since then, it has become one of the most ideal cow shelters in the country.
This gaushala is also India’s first modern and self-sufficient cow shelter.
Swami Rishabh Devanand, the coordinator of Adarsh Gaushala Lal Tipara Gwalior, said that the fire has been brought under control. The gaushala is run by the Municipal Corporation with the help of saints. Since the fire was controlled in time, a major disaster was avoided.
Apart from the cows, the gaushala also houses a Bio-CNG plant, which makes CNG gas from cow dung. Saving this plant was also a big priority.
According to officials, this Bio-CNG plant is the first of its kind in the state. In Indore, a Bio-CNG plant already exists, but it uses wet waste to produce gas. However, at Lal Tipara Gaushala, only cow dung is used — and only from the cows living there.
Officials also said that currently, Bio-CNG is in higher demand than normal CNG. This is because Bio-CNG contains 95% methane, while normal CNG contains around 90%. Because of this, vehicles running on Bio-CNG get better mileage.
The fire incident raised concerns, but the timely action by the authorities prevented any major loss, and the cows and the Bio-CNG plant were saved.
