Mumbai: The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) screening test is tentatively scheduled for July this year, as announced by the National Medical Commission (NMC) in a public notice issued on Thursday.

The NMC has also outlined the schedule for the online application process for the eligibility certificate required to appear for the examination. Candidates who have not yet obtained the eligibility certificate must submit their applications through the official portal.

The application process will commence on March 10 at 09:30 AM and will close on April 9 at 06:00 PM. The commission emphasised that this will be the final opportunity for candidates to apply for the certificate, and no further chances will be provided.

The notice also advised applicants to carefully review all required details before submission to avoid errors and delays. Candidates who have already applied for the eligibility certificate in previous cycles are not required to submit a new application.

Enquiries regarding the status of applications can be made via email at the designated NMC addresses, but candidates must provide their File Tracking Number for responses.

Additionally, the NMC issued an advisory outlining common mistakes candidates should avoid when applying for the certificate. These include ensuring that applications are personally filled out by candidates rather than proxies, verifying details against original documents before submission, and providing active mobile numbers to receive alerts regarding deficiencies. The advisory also urged candidates to rectify any deficiencies promptly to prevent last-minute complications.

The FMGE screening test, conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, is mandatory for foreign medical graduates seeking to practise in India. Without the eligibility certificate from the NMC, candidates will not be permitted to appear for the examination.
