Mukul Saran Mathur took over charge of General Manager, South Western Railway on 1st March 2025. He is an Indian Railway Traffic Officer of 1988 batch and holds a Law Degree from Delhi University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from Management Development Institute, Gurgaon. Before joining the present assignment, he was Additional Member Commercial Railway Board.
In his career spanning more than over three decades he has served on Central Railway, Northern Railway, East Coast Railway, West Central Railway & Railway Board in various capacities.
Previously he had held important assignments of PED/Infrastructure, Principal Chief Operations Manager/West Central Railway, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Divisional Railway Manager/Waltair, and Executive Director/PPP, Railway Board, among others. He has handled key infrastructure projects including Dedicated Freight Corridor Projects. High Speed Rail Project and Port and Mine Connectivity Projects. Also he has contributed towards enhancing passenger experience through Digital Solutions.
He has also worked as the Head of Asia office of International Union of Railway and has contributed to rail developments in the Asia-Pacific region.
For his works in the past, he has been awarded by Railway Minister MR Award in 2005, Change Agent Award in 2018 by Railway Minister and Leadership Excellence Award in 2019 by Railway Minister.
He succeeds Arvind Srivastava who got superannuation on 28.02.2025.
