In a rigorous special drive conducted in February, the Koparkhairane Traffic Police took action against 3,185 vehicle drivers for violating traffic regulations. The operation resulted in the collection of fines amounting to Rs 29,41,500. Notably, 1,037 bikers were penalized for riding without helmets.
To enhance traffic safety and ensure strict compliance with road regulations, the Koparkhairane Traffic Branch has been organizing awareness initiatives for the public. Acting on the directives of Navi Mumbai Traffic Department’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Tirupati Kakade, the branch conducted an intensive campaign throughout February.
As part of this initiative, authorities cracked down on offenses such as signal jumping, drunk driving, illegal parking, and the use of loud silencers, among other violations. The extensive action resulted in penalties imposed on 3,185 motorists, leading to a substantial collection of Rs 29,41,500 in fines.
Assistant Police Inspector Vishwas Bhingardive, in charge of the Koparkhairane Traffic police said, “A total of 1,037 bikers were specifically fined for not wearing helmets. The police emphasized that such drives will continue to ensure road discipline and enhance public safety.”
The action was initiated following various complaints by the residents in the node. Those penalised can pay online through the app, said police.
