The Hon’ble Special Judge for CBI cases, Court No.48, City, Civil & Sessions Court, Mumbai has sentenced five accused including Shri Sunil Dattatray Satam, then Admin In-charge (Officer on Special Duty), National Textile Corporation (Western Region), Mumbai Shri Sadanand Jagannath Vardam, then Asstt Manager, Finlay Mill; Shri Arun Atmaram Belnekar, the then Accounts Officer, Finlay Mills; Shri Anant Dhondu Mahadik, then Account Officer and Shri Ananda Yashwant Sable, Private Transporter to 1-2 years’ Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) with total fine of Rs. 1.25 lakh in bank fraud a case.

Accused Public Servants Shri Sunil Dattatray Satam, Shri Sadanand Jagannath Vardam, Shri Arun Atmaram Belnekar, and Shri Anant Dhondu Mahadik were sentenced to 1 year’s RI with fine of Rs. 25,000 each and private person Shri Ananda Yashwant Sable was sentenced to 2 years’ RI with fine of Rs. 25.000.

CBI had registered the instant case on 06.01.2014 against accused alleging that Shri Sunil Dattatray Satam, then Admin In-Charge (OSD), National Textile Corporation (Western Region), NTC House Mumbai, Shri Sadanand Jagannath Vardham, Asst Retd Manager, Finlay Mill, Shri Arun Ataram Balenkar, then Accounts Officer, Finlay Mills, Shri Ananda Yeshwant Sable, Pvt, Transporter, Mankhud, Mumbai conspired together with an intention to cheat the NTC by abusing their official powers. Accused deliberately did not call the tender of Transportation and arbitararily allotted the work to Shri A Y Sable, a Transporter. In furtherance of said criminal conspiracy, accused Sable dishonestly prepared the vouchers of transporting goods from Finlay No.2 Mill called Digvijay Mill to Finlay Mill No.1, Parely, Mumbai, thereby NTC sustained a wrongful loss of Rs. 37 lakh and corresponding wrongful gain to accused.

After investigation, CBI has filed charge-sheet on 30.12.2014 against aforesaid convicted accused. Thereafter, charges were framed on 13.11.2017 and 21 Prosecution witnesses were examined to prove the charges.

The Court, after trial, found accused guilty and sentenced them accordingly.
