Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The burning of Union Carbide’s toxic waste has begun at the Ramky Enviro Engineers Ltd. (REEL) in Tarpura village of Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. In the first trial run, 10 tons of waste will be destroyed in the factory’s incinerator.
Government officials, doctors deployed
Officials from the Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board, Dhar District Collector Priyank Mishra, SP Manoj Kumar Singh, and other authorities are present at the site. A health department team, including two specialist doctors, is stationed outside the factory premises for monitoring.

130 Special Armed Force personnel present at site
To ensure security, 130 Special Armed Force personnel are deployed inside the factory, while DSP-rank officers are stationed outside. All roads leading to the factory are blocked, and no one is allowed near the premises without proper authorization.

Regarding the matter, Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitendra Jitu Patwari said, "The government is making excuses of the court regarding Union Carbide's waste... If the government took this waste there (Pithampura in Indore), then it means that the government and government leaders had hidden financial interests behind it. Indore city continuously gave them (BJP) MPs, MLAs and Mayors, but BJP has given cancer to the future generation in return..."
