Pakistan cricket team's journey in the Champions Trophy 2025 ended on an embarrassing note as the hosts failed to win a single match in the tournament. Under the captaincy of Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan lost both their opening matches against New Zealand and India. Their final game against Bangladesh was washed out, leaving them with just one point from three games.

How Much Prize Money Will Pakistan Receive after terrible performance?

Despite their horrible performance, Pakistan will still receive prize money from the ICC. The total prize pool of the tournament is $6.9 million (₹57 crore approx), with every participating team guaranteed $125,000 (₹1.08 crore approx) just for playing.

Since Pakistan will either finish 7th or 8th overall, they will receive an additional $140,000 (₹1.23 crore approx). In total, the Men in Green will take home $265,000 (₹2.31 crore approx).

Pakistan Breaks Worst Record

Pakistan's flop show made them the worst defending champions in Champions Trophy history, breaking Australia's record from 2013, where the Aussies finished with one point and an NRR of -0.680.

With this disappointing performance, Pakistan finished at the bottom of Group A with a Net Run Rate (NRR) of -1.087. This marks Pakistan's worst-ever finish in Champions Trophy history, making them the defending champions with the poorest campaign in the tournament's legacy.

Rizwan Admits Team's Failure

After the team's elimination, Mohammad Rizwan expressed disappointment and apologized to the fans.

"We wanted to perform well in front of our home crowd, but we couldn't deliver. Expectations were high, but we made a lot of mistakes. Hopefully, we will learn from them," said Rizwan.

The Pakistan captain added that the team is now focusing on their next tour to New Zealand, where they will look to make a strong comeback. Rizwan concluded "We are all upset. The whole team knows how much this means to the nation. We accept that we didn't perform well, but we will work harder and return stronger,".
