Veteran actress Aruna Irani sustained injuries after falling in Bangkok, Thailand, two weeks ago. Recently, a video went viral showing her arriving in Mumbai in a wheelchair due to a fractured foot, holding crutches in one hand, leaving fans concerned. Talking about the accident, she revealed that her shopping spree on the streets of Bangkok led to a major mishap.
Speaking to ETimes, Aruna said that she was shopping in Bangkok with her close friends to unwind in the city. However, just two days into her vacation, she fell on the road while walking, as she got distracted by the vibrant streets around her.
She added, "I was simply enjoying myself when the accident happened. 'Itni masti karungi toh ye toh hona hi hai'. I received immediate medical attention in Bangkok, and after two weeks of recovery, I returned to Mumbai. Unfortunately, after coming back, I caught a viral infection, but I’m recovering from that as well."
Aruna jokingly said that she had gone to Bangkok just for shopping, but the trip turned out to be quite expensive for her. To the extent that now, if someone asks her to go shopping, she outright refuses. "Life brings such moments, and this was my turn. I’m 80 now, but I know I’ll get through this," she added.
In another interview with Hindustan Times, Irani shared a health update with her fans, revealing that the plaster on her leg will be removed soon and she will be able to walk in another 10 days. Currently, she is resting at her residence in Mumbai.
Aruna has worked in over 500 films across Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, and Gujarati cinema.
The actress was last seen in the romantic-comedy Ghudchadi, which also starred Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Parth Samthaan, and Khushalii Kumar in pivotal roles. The film is a remake of the 2023 Bengali movie Love Marriage.
