New Delhi: Chaos erupted in the Delhi Assembly on Tuesday amid uproar over the tabling of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report. Twenty one Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs, including former Delhi chief minister Atishi and Gopal, were suspended by Speaker Vijender Gupta from the assembly for raising slogans during Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena's address.

The other AAP MLAs were suspended for three days. The proposal for their suspension was moved by Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Verma. It was passed through a voice vote in the House. The suspended MLAs will not be allowed to participate in the assembly proceedings on February 27 and 28.

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta tabled the CAG report, highlighting the alleged financial irregularities under the previous AAP government, including the liquor excise police scam.

The report is one of 14 report on the previous AAP government's performance.

What Atishi Said After getting Suspended:

After being suspended from the Legislative Assembly for the whole day, Leader of Opposition Atishi, again accused the ruling BJP government of removing Dr Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar’s photo from the office of the Delhi Chief Minister.

“BJP has replaced the portrait of Dr Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar with that of PM Modi in the CM office, cabinet ministers office...Is PM Modi bigger than Dr BR Ambedkar?... We will keep on protesting against it until the portrait of Dr BR Ambedkar is put in its place,” she said.

On Monday, former Chief Minister Atishi shared a photo of herself seated in the CM's office with portraits of Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh in the background. She contrasted this with a photo of the new Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, where portraits of Mahatma Gandhi, President Droupadi Murmu, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were displayed instead.

However, the BJP hit back at the AAP releasing another picture of the Delhi CM’s office showing that Dr Ambedkar’s photo in an adjoining wall.
