Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A logjam of vehicles was witnessed even on the concluding day of Global Investors Summit on the routes towards Shyamla Hills and Manav Sangrahalay. The parking at GIS summit were full as locals flocked to the summit in large numbers on Tuesday. The traffic movement was smooth on the route to GIS venue in the morning but vehicles started queuing up by 12 in the noon as not only delegates but locals including college students and city businessmen began reaching Manav Sangrahalay.
However, police ensured that guests and delegates do not have to walk to the venue as happened a day earlier. E-buses and e-carts arranged from the parking to Manav Sangrahalay for ferrying the guests. The visitors approaching on two-wheelers were asked to park their vehicles a kilometre ahead of GIS venue. The diversions made after the arrival of union home minister Amit Shah affected the traffic movement in the city in the afternoon. The vehicular movement on the diverted routes was slow and normalcy returned only when Shah returned in the evening. Traffic officials said that inflow of vehicles was heavy for some hours during the day but there was no traffic jam.
How traffic moved
The route from Van Vihar to Boat Club, which is usually restricted for vehicles was opened on Tuesday. Vehicles were allowed to pass from Van Vihar and return to city in bid to avoid traffic snarl. However, the guests could not refrain from stopping their vehicles and clicking photographs of animals. People flocked at the enclosure of tiger, bear and snakes. The security guards requested the people not to stop their vehicles and avoid blowing horns, over speeding and overtaking other vehicles.
