Melbourne, Australia - Three students from Coimbatore's The Indian Public School have won the Monash University Change It Challenge final. Srivatsav, Srinivas, and Sriram were the top performers with their creative solution to lower methane gases and counteract increasing temperatures.

The students pitched their concept of how a biogas generator could be used to generate clean, renewable energy from cow dung, impressing the judges and emerging as winners. The team was declared the winner of the Monash University Change It Challenge Grand Final, which took place in Melbourne.

About Change It Challenge program

The Change It Challenge, a program sponsored by Monash University, seeks to challenge high school students to make a positive difference in the fields of climate change and successful communities. Competition this year had entries from Indian, Chinese, Thai, Bangladeshi, South Korean, and Indonesian students.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) and Senior Vice-President Craig Jeffrey congratulated the winners and highlighted international partnership and concepts. "We think that good ideas can originate anywhere. We are dedicated to creating opportunities for everyone in the world to exchange, innovate, and turn their ideas into reality."

Part of their Melbourne excursion, the champion team and other finalists went through a week-long program consisting of a visit to Monash University's state-of-the-art facilities, roundtable academic sessions, and cultural excursions.

Monash University Change It Challenge is a yearly contest that invites high school students to think out of the box and come up with creative solutions for real-world challenges.
