Mumbai: A 16-year-old girl was raped by a 22-year-old man in Palghar district, Maharashtra, who was later found to be pregnant, according to an official informed on Monday. The accused was from Nallasopara in Palghar district. The 22-year-old accused and the victim stay in the same area in Nallasopara.

Last month, the accused went to the victim's house when she was alone, and he allegedly raped her. The girl was found 3 weeks pregnant during the medical examination.

The victim's mother went to the police. Following that, the accused was arrested on Saturday and booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 64 (rape) and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, officials added, as per the media agency PTI.

A 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and found abandoned at the Ghansoli railway station by the Vashi Government Railway Police (GRP). A medical examination confirmed that the minor had been sexually assaulted.

The girl was found crying on the Ghansoli railway station platform around 3 pm on Sunday. The officials said that. “When the police personnel on patrol duty questioned her, she seemed to be clueless about her family''.

CCTV was found as proof from the railway station. No other substantial evidence was found. The case is restricted as a rape case under the section of rape and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. “The girl has been moved to a shelter home, and police are working to locate her family and identify the accused,” according to senior police inspector Rajesh Shinde from Vashi GRP.
